About Us

our model

WE ARE DRIVEN TO SPARK A LIFELONG LOVE
OF LEARNING IN ALL OF OUR STUDENTS.

We strive to set a new standard of excellence in public education. Through our integrated K-8 model, BCS offers a collaborative, community environment that augments academic excellence with social and emotional growth.

The innovative BCS program exemplifies what research has shown: students in K-8 programs achieve higher academic scores, participate more in extracurricular activities, demonstrate greater leadership skills, and are less likely to be bullied than those following the usual elementary/middle school track.

Once students reach the 8th grade, they have the skills necessary to be true community leaders.

Integrated K-8

Our model fosters academic and social interaction across grade levels, creating a family environment and culture of positive and purposeful support. Through our integrated K-8 model, BCS students benefit from continuity with academic programs and processes upon which they can continue to build, educators who know them well and can support their long-term emotional and social growth, and opportunities that can be leveraged to optimize their learning within and outside of the classroom.

Grades K-5

The BCS K-8 program provides all students with authentic and personalized learning opportunities at an age-appropriate pace. In the elementary grades, students develop a critical foundation for intellectual and social/emotional skills reinforced through meaningful interactions with their older peers in classes such as the school-wide Houses and Buddies programs.

Grades 6-8

The Middle School program offers three unique components: block scheduling, intersessions, and advisory classes. Block scheduling provides opportunities for more in-depth cross-curricular learning. Intersessions, on the other hand, offer units of study that extend learning beyond the classroom into the real world with access to industry experts. Finally, advisory classes nurture leadership, a growth mindset, digital citizenship, and 21st-century success skills. Every middle school student receives the support and guidance he or she needs for a successful transition to high school.
