Intersession

This BCS hallmark program facilitates learning outside the four walls of a classroom and integrates design thinking, technology, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy in a hands-on experience.

Every middle schooler participates in Intersession three times each school year in 2-week cycles.  Through Intersession projects learners are solving real world problems.

Learners develop the essential skills of critical thinking, creative problem solving, communication, and collaboration.

FabLab

Every middle school learner attends FabLab, our fabrication laboratory, where they participate in a scaffolded program that includes design thinking and technology. By the time they’ve completed their 3 years of middle school, students have developed the essential technology skills of 3D modeling, laser cutting, coding, robotics, and circuitry.

After an introductory year, the focus shifts to social entrepreneurship with the design of products to address a community need.

In 8th grade students complete a personal passion project.
